Bustards Snowman

On our way to look for a little pine tree for the front of the house we stopped by Bustards Christmas Trees close to home to see what they have to offer.  Since we are fairly new in the area we had not shopped at Bustards before.  After pulling in I saw this inflatable that I know I had to get.  Bustards is a very friendly place and their motto “Real Trees make Scents” appeals to me.

Outlet Ornament

We moved to the Philadelphia area last June.  When exploring the area we found the Philadelphia Premium Outlet Mall just 20 minutes away.  Well we had a little time and decided to stop by.  Quite a surprise, a nice outlet mall.  Best of all, right after getting there and looking at the store directory I spotted this Big Ornament.  Had to get this photo.

Santa to the Sea

Julia, Deb and I saw this Santa along the 101 on our way for a day trip to Santa Barbara.  After some relaxing time, wine sampling and a great lunch we stopped on the way back to LA.  It was puzzling why this Big Santa was located there in Nyeland Acres on Ventura Blvd. alongside the 101.  I still don’t have answers to that but it is the starting point for the “Santa to the Sea” half marathon.  I looked at their website and was pretty impressed, they use the entry fees to but toys for kids and give scholarships to deserving high schoolers.

Habig Trowel

Years ago, we traveled from Philadelphia to Champaign, Illinois to drop Andy off to start his freshmen year at the University of Illinois. We spent the night in Indianapolis and found a Big Trowel at Habig’s nursery in Westfield. Well, after we moved to Indianapolis in 2002 I found that Habig had multiple locations. The original location is on College Ave just south of Broad Ripple. Recently we stopped to get this image on a cold morning after a good snowfall. Here is the original trowel, dressed up with a Santa hat.

NJ Nutcrackers

Ben and I were on our way to the Apple Store on Rte 73 in Marlton, NJ. When we pulled into the shopping center we spotted these Nutcrackers guarding the entrance. Had to stop and grab this image.

Disney Center Menora

The Disney Center in Los Angeles, where the LA Symphony plays, celebrates the Holiday season. This menora was in the foyer for the Center. Of course I had to get my photo taken. Julia was working for the LA Phil when we were there for Christmas. There is a self-guided tour of the Disney Center which we enjoyed, well worth the price ($ free) and then Julia was able to get us backstage during a rehearsal.

Groff’s Straw Man

Here is another “found” image. This one taken at Groff’s Nursery in Glassboro, New Jersey a few years ago. Judging by the decorations we must have been picking up some corn stalks to decorate for fall, what do you think?
