Big Pennzoil

Since I moved to Indiana 3 years ago, (WOW!) I’ve become a auto racing fan, (how can you not?) and know that Pennzoil keeps engines running smoother, longer. At least that’s what I learned. While this is another inflatble at the Wal-Mart opening I will gladly add it to my web site.

Wal-Mart Store Opening

We were in town for a new store opening near the Wal-Mart home office.  I ran into these two very friendly young women and they were kind enough to pose with me for this photo. I also found this inflatable credit card, I wonder if they adjust for “inflation.”

Rogers Castrol Oil

Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart. Another inflatable in Rogers. But I take ’em as available. I have no recommendation on Castrol vs. Pennzoil. You make the choice. I spent the night in the “Frisco Suite” at the Embassey Suites in Rogers, AR. I highly recommend it. (Thanks again Karla! And I hijacked the HH points as well.)

Wal-Mart Michelin Man

I was lucky to get this inflatable outside a Wal-Mart Grand Opening in Rogers, look Arkansas. Since this store is close to the Home Office there was a lot of activity. It was pretty windy that day and I got this image early. When Karla, Mike and I left the store later, this inflatable was down for the count. Hopefully their tires last longer.

Arkansas Weinermobile

This could be one of my favorites, the elusive Weinermobile from Oscar Meyer. Deb took an image of one of these in Indy on her phone but the quality wasn’t great. Any way, at the end of the trip to Springfield, Missouri to make a store visit we returned to the hotel and when we pulled into the parking lot there was a collected gasp as we spotted this beauty.

Conseco Fieldhouse Basketball

We saw this giant basketball a long time ago on our “Explore Indy” trip in January of 2002. Everyone on the bus that saw this got excited. Unfortunately it took a while to get down to Conseco Fieldhouse for this photo.

Wal-Mart Keebler

Here I am “working” again – I like the sound of that and use it often. At any rate I was at a Grand Opening of a store and there were many vendors there with inflatables. More inflatables from this event are on the Automotive and Objects pages. Here is the Keebler guy, a Leprechaun I guess.

Kokomo Rocking Chair

Lot’s of folks told me about this chair and it took some time to go and get it. On US-31, north of Kokomo is Grissom Air Force base. And just north of the base sits this Big Rocking Chair out in a field. If you go west on the road that forms the intersection you will find a farm that buys Black Walnuts. I stopped and chatted with the folks there, quite interesting. (I lost my notes or I would tell you the name of the farm.)

Indy Bowling Pins

There’s a bowling alley on the Southside of Indianapolis at I-465 at the first exit West of I-70. There’s 80 lanes of bowling and a couple of huge bowling pins. We passed by and had to take the next exit to get back for this image. Here they are!

Groff’s Straw Man

Here is another “found” image. This one taken at Groff’s Nursery in Glassboro, New Jersey a few years ago. Judging by the decorations we must have been picking up some corn stalks to decorate for fall, what do you think?

Michigan v. IU Football

A couple of years ago Deb and I wandered into Big Ten “enemy” territory going to a Michigan at Indiana (IU) football game. What a great day. The IU fans were good losers. the Michigan fans, stuck in a corner of the end zone, but overflowing some, had a lot to cheer about. Unfortunately the IU band at half-time performed better than the football team. (I guess I might get some comments from rabid IU fans.) To give them credit, Michigan did go to the Rose Bowl that year. So did Deb!

Columbus Beer

Deb and I drove to Columbus to see the Crew play DC united and the phenom Freddie Adu. This was a birthday present for Deb, we spent the night there and it was a lot of fun. On the way back we found the highest point in Indiana. What a thrill!

Corner Cone

After taking the New Era silo shot we were shooting straight down M-100 to pick up the interstate and made a wrong turn. Well, there in front of the Corner Cone at 201 W Jefferson at the “corner” of Harrison was this ice cream cone. I don’t care if it was a fancy trash container, it’s still darn big.

New Era Silo

I picked up this site from Roadside America. We were coming down from Prudenville, MI and were passing close by and decided to visit this site. Out in the middle of Michigan farmland is this great silo painted like the New Era chip cans I remember. I don’t know who keeps this up, but kodo’s to them.
